HQPlantations are once again hosting a clean up Australia day initiative at Beerburrum, to clean up the Pine Plantations that are heavily littered with rubbish.

HQPlantations has registered for Sunday the 4th March 2018 from 8am to 12pm, registrations are at the Forestry office, Red Road Beerburrum. Inductions and Instructions on locations will be discussed at this stage. A sausage sizzle with cold refreshments will be offered to all volunteers after the clean up event has finished.

If you or your club is interested in participating in this years clean up can you please email me with numbers so I can organise catering. Also if you do wish to participate can you let me know if you will have trailers and how many. A couple of skip bins will be supplied at the clean up but just to get an idea of how many trailers we will have would be good.

Free dumping will also be available through the Caboolture Waste Facility and Woodford facility. Woodford is limited to what they can take but this will be discussed on the morning of registrations.

    Bundy Bash 2 Trip:

    30th March - 2nd April 2018 (Easter)

Trip grading. Medium to Hard/ Difficult.

Come and enjoy the western front of the Bundaberg area up in the hills at Kalpowar. There will be a combination of larger loops 100kms+ and smaller harder tracks with some exploration of areas involved. There will be small pieces of history of the region in places.

Easter being Easter, I’m not expecting Kalpowar to get busy as the park isn’t that well known so hopefully it will be a pleasant experience, but still get your spot booked early. Wongi camping area however may fill up quick, but this is just a stop over to break up the driving. There is Lenthals dam, and of course general light camping in the state forest if you feel like fully roughing it for the night if you miss out.

I would suggest to take extra fuel, I’m taking an extra 40L as its Easter and small towns may be fully shut up, Gin Gin being a truck stop will be open (85kms away).

The camp area has drop toilets, fire pits, non-potable water, and picnic tables, it’s a nice big grassy area suitable for all types of camping. When booking, please book for “Kalpowar camping area” as there is other options with Kalpowar, and “Wongi camping area” as well if your planning on the stop over Thursday night.

    Thursday 29/3/18

    • Drive to Wongi Waterhole camp area for the night (approx. Brisbane depart at 2pm)

    Friday 30/03/18

    • Depart Wongi around 8am to 9am and head to Gin Gin for refuel and make any purchases.
    • Depart Gin Gin for Kalpowar, set up camp, have lunch, and a afternoon drive in the forestry.

    Saturday 31/03/18

    • Bigger easy loop around Mt Perry through the bush and various points of interest
    • Stop off at Gin Gin for anyone who needs refuel/ purchase anything for the next day.

    Sunday 1/04/18

    • Explore through the hills of Kalpowar and surrounds. (This may get difficult as there is some full on off-road tacks and extreme hills in the area, however we can tame it to suit the crowd) This is weather dependant, we have an alternative loop to do should it be wet.

    Monday 2/04/18

    • Pack up and drive home via the Burnett Hiway to miss the Brisbane Easter traffic Jam!

Please contact me if you have any questions via Email,

    • Cooma Show Ground, Cooma NSW

Organisers of Land Rover’s 70th anniversary celebrations are delighted to announce that they have already sold around 750 tickets to the event, and have attracted some 25 sponsors. So if you are thinking about coming, be sure to book soon. Its going to be the biggest Land Rover event in Australia, ever.
In addition to Land Rover Australia, we have All Four x 4 Spares, 4WD Industries and Kingfisher Bay/Sunset House as “Vogue” sponsors. Donna at the Cooma Visitors Centre and Rogan from the Cooma Car Club have been doing a wonderful job assisting with the on-site preparations.
Registration will start at 3pm on Thursday 29 March and extend into Friday. Register at the Cooma Car Club in Bolaro Street. Saturday will be the day for LROCV’s Retro Rover’s Navigation Trial and several tag-along trips around the Cooma-Jindabyne region. Planning for these, and a Motorkhana and off-road trial are well advanced. See our web and Facebook pages for more details.
Meanwhile at the Showground we will have Land Rover Australia and the exhibitors, and a swap meet. There will be plenty of food and drink, and activities for the children. Join us for an informal BBQ at the Showground on Saturday evening and the Arthur Goddard Gala Dinner on Sunday. (Pre-booking and payment is required for both). Michael Bishop from Land Rover Heritage in the UK and Connie Beadell from Beadell Tours are guest speakers at the dinner.
Sunday is the big day. Vehicles will assemble at the Ti Tree Racecourse, with the Grand Parade through the main street of Cooma starting at 10am. The Shannons-sponsored parade will finish at the Showground where the vehicles will be displayed, from the 1948 Series Ones to the biggest and brightest Range Rover HSE’s, and every model in between. Again there will be plenty of activities at the Showground, with Land Rover’s Terrapod a major feature. We will see the latest model vehicles put through their paces. LROC (Sydney Branch) are organising two technical workshops over the weekend.
There will be loads of prizes over the course of the day and radiator badges awarded to ‘best in class’ for the Show and Shine.
LandyBitz, one of our key sponsors, are helping with the major prize for the 70th Anniversary Raffle. This is an amazing prize, offering a fully paid trip for two to the UK to see Land Rover in Solihull and participate in the UK 70th celebrations if you wish. Conditions apply.
With such a large number of people, accommodation will be tight. Try the event’s website in the first instance. If you are having issues, don’t hesitate to call the Cooma Visitor’s Centre and they will help you find a hotel, motel or camp site. And to remind you, our friends at Kingfisher Bay and Sunset House are offering 3 days on Fraser Island, to be drawn from a raffle for all who book for the 70th before the end of January.
